Protein-protein interactions (PPI) play a key role in many biological processes, making them promising targets for drug discovery. Though inhibition of protein-protein interactions has been challenging due to binding-site characteristics at the protein-protein interface, there has been considerable success in recent years. CHI’s
Second Annual Protein-Protein Interactions as Drug Targets conference will examine PPI inhibitors that are either in or advancing toward the clinic, as well as the technologies enabling our understanding of how to successfully exploit this drug class. Building on the momentum from this year’s inaugural program, this meeting will seek to further explore the identification of protein-protein interaction pairs, modulation of intracellular protein-protein interactions, computational approaches,
peptidomimetics, fragment-based screening, and more.
Sessions:
- Targets for Drug Discovery
- Technologies for Tackling
- Case Studies and Applications
Conference coverage may include:
- Identifying protein-protein interaction pairs
- Modulating intracellular protein-protein interactions
- Challenges posed by binding-site characteristics – distinguishing hotspots
- Computational approaches – predicting protein-protein interactions, assessing
druggability, structure-based design
- Designing and synthesizing peptidomimetics
- Fragment-based screening approaches
- Case studies:
- Successful PPI inhibition: Challenges, PPI targets, potential therapeutic applications
- PPI inhibitors in the clinic
Interested in presenting? Researchers targeting protein-protein interactions are encouraged to submit a title and brief summary of their work for consideration.
To ensure the quality of the program, all proposals will be reviewed by the scientific advisory committee.

The deadline for submission (for priority consideration) is October 26, 2007.
